ABOUT ME

I initially studied Physics and Chemistry (2004-2006), and then drifted towards Earth Sciences. I did my undergraduate studies and a certification in gemology at the University of Nantes in France (2006-2010). I continued my graduate studies at the University of Geneva in Switzerland doing a master and a PhD thesis under the supervision of Prof. Robert Moritz. After I graduated in August 2017, I carried on my scientific journey as a post-doctoral fellow at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (2018-2021), where I pursued my research with Prof. Oliver Jagoutz. I am currently an Assistant Professor and the endowed Lundin Chair in Economic Geology in the department of Geosciences at the University of Arizona, Tucson.

I have a strong background in economic geology and igneous petrology. My research interests are mostly focused on the petrogenesis of arc magmas and the formation of ore-forming systems at convergent margins. I investigate deep igneous processes with a special emphasis on the evolution of metals and volatiles during magmatic differentiation. I also investigate the formation of ore deposits formed in the upper continental crust focusing on the magmatic-hydrothermal timing, mineral and fluid chemistry and ore mineral assemblages. My research expertise is field-based petrology, petrography, geochemistry and geochronology.

My current Research Themes are:

  • Evolution of sulfur and chalcophiles in arc magmas.

  • Timing, characteristics and genesis of magmatic-hydrothermal systems.

  • Magmatism and metallogeny of the Central Tethyan belt.

My field experiences include the Lesser Caucasus, the Abitibi province in Canada, the Andes in Perú and Argentina, the Western US, the Apuseni mountains in Romania, Tuscany in Italy, the Rodalquilar district in Spain, the High- and Anti-Atlas in Morocco, Ireland, northern Vietnam, and Ethiopia.

SPARE TIME

Outside research, I love music...and more specifically I love to dig music records to expand my records collection focused on Reggae-Dancehall, Afrojazz, Nu-Jazz and traditional Jazz. I am also a DJ for the Reggae-Dancehall sound system “King Rula” based in Bordeaux, France. I love to travel the world to open my mind by meeting new people and discovering new cultures, languages, food and music. Finally, I also love cooking, reading and hanging out with my wife, as it helps me to escape reality for a moment!
